Charrette (noun): a meeting in which all stakeholders in a project attempt to resolve conflicts & map solutions.
As part of ongoing efforts to expand non-motorized trails in Iron County, the Iron County Regional Trail Committee is hosting an exciting public visioning event. All interested community members, neighbors, & partners are invited to participate in the Iron County Regional Trail Design Charrette on Tuesday, October 4th from 7-8pm at the Iron County Memorial Building (201 Iron Street, Hurley WI).
The UW-Extension Community Vitality & Placemaking Team is sending its skillful & energetic members to engage Iron County in a public charrette that will help develop a shared vision for new trailheads as outlined in the county’s current Wisconsin Coastal Management Grant. Specifically the charrette will focus on envisioning design plans for a trailhead along the Montreal River in Hurley, & potential trailheads in Montreal & Gile.
The charrette begins Tuesday morning when the Iron County Regional Trail Committee & the Community Vitality & Placemaking Team tour the various trailhead locations & similar points of interest for non-motorized trails in the area. Then, key community stakeholders will meet with team members to describe the trail progress made so far & to share ideas of what future successes may look like. Combining design expertise & local input, the team will lastly present a proposal for a shared trail vision for the public to view & consider. After the charrette, the trailhead design proposal & public feedback will guide the Iron County Regional Trail Committee as they proceed with next steps in the trail development process.
Community participation is the fuel to this fire, so please attend! Questions can be directed to Amy Nosal (contact information below).
