Ashley Basso will be joining the summer 4-H program team as an AmeriCorps member in early June. She will earn a living allowance and college tuition reimbursement for her service. Ashley will build on the wonderful foundation laid by former FoodWIse Educator Deborah Leonard, working with youth who attend the Hurley School’s Summer Kid’s Club program and providing education in the Hurley School Garden. Ashley’s work will also complement the 4-H summer activities being offered by Summer Assistants, Serena Tauer and Eva Krall.
“I would love to see a school based 4-H club that provides an opportunity to explore all that 4-H has to offer. Of course, we are known for the livestock education we offer but 4-H is so much more than that,” states Neil Klemme, Iron County 4-H Youth Development Educator.
Neil wants to provide an easier way for youth to participate in the 4-H program and bringing it to the school makes the most sense. Watch for updates throughout the summer!
